Our latest Featured Golf Vacation is Palm Springs CA.  The area is known as the Coachella Valley and includes the cities of Palm Desert, Indian Wells, Rancho Mirage and La Quinta CA. You can fly into the convenient airport @ Palm Springs, or other nearby airports in Southern CA, or drive there from cities in the Southwest. The beauty of this destination is the multiple Resorts and Golf Courses that are available to play.

It is a desert environment like Phoenix, so golf vacations are best from November to April. Otherwise, the heat can be unbearable.

Where can you play Golf?

There are more than 100 courses in the Coachella Valley. Some are private, but most are open and available to the public, especially if you are a guest of one of the Resorts

Beside the three courses that we played on our recent trip, other courses we feature and recommend are:

La Quinta has 5 courses on property, including the renowned Stadium course @ PGA West, and the picturesque Mountain course @ La Quinta.  Their other three courses are Dunes @ La Quinta and Nicklaus and Norman @ PGA West.

At Westin Mission Hills, two championship golf courses, designed by Pete Dye and Gary Player offer a fun and challenging experience for all skill levels.  Wake up to the peaceful setting of our well  groomed courses in this picturesque desert destination.

On our recent trip, we stayed and played @ the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells. We also played @ Desert Willow and Indian Springs. The Players Course @ Indian Wells is known as the “beast” for its difficulty. They also have a Celebrity Course @ Indian Wells. It has more water, and is known as “the beauty”.

Golf Resorts that we Feature:

We offer an array of price points in this Featured Vacation. They range from the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells, which is nestled among 45 acres of lush gardens and provides the quintessential Palm Springs experience. Located within the exclusive Indian Wells community, the resort’s unmatched hospitality, service, and access to a myriad of activities invite guests to relax, play and indulge. As a part of your stay, guests have access to the renowned Indian Wells Golf Resort right next door.

The Westin Mission Hills Resort   is a perfect escape in Palm Springs with championship golf, picturesque mountain views and a secluded location. Lounge by the pool or unwind at the spa during your desert retreat. It is one of Golf Digest’s® Top 75 Golf Resorts in North America.

At LaQuinta Resort and Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort you will discover a legendary hideaway and meeting destination, renowned since 1926 for its charm and serenity.

Then there is Legacy Villas @ La Quinta in a guard gated community nestled in a dramatic cove of the Santa Rosa mountains. It has 280, 2 and 3 bedroom villas and single family homes.

What you can do when you aren’t golfing?

This is a question I get whenever I am helping a client with their golf plans. When it comes to Palm Springs, the answer is plenty!!

Let’s start with shopping. For extraordinary shopping, we recommend the Shops on El Paseo in Palm Desert. This area is the Rodeo Drive of Palm Desert. There are over 50 unique shops, featuring everything the shopper needs and wants.

For adventure and the whole family, we recommend the Living Desert Zoo and Garden. There you will find a wide array of animals from North America and Africa, as well as a nature preserve protecting 1080 acres of the undisturbed Sonoran Desert. Hiking is recommended, and ranges from mild on flat ground to more strenuous through a boulder field at the base of the Eisenhower Mountain.

Of course there is plenty of time for relaxing and sun bathing at your resort. I was told that Palm Springs has more than 300 days of sun each year.

How About Wining and Dining?

For a unique dining experience, take the Aerial Tramway 5783 feet up the San Jacinto Mountains. There you will find amazing views of the entire area, along with casual dining at the Pines Café, or fine dining at Peaks, serving delectable food along with breathtaking views of the Coachella Valley.

There is no shortage of restaurants and lounges in the area. When we were there, we enjoyed dinner at the Cork Tree in Palm Desert and at Guillermo’s Restaurante , a Mexican restaurant in Palm Desert. The food was excellent and the pitchers of Margaritas were even better.

California wines are served everywhere, and are the drink of choice for many of us.

This was one of my most enjoyable golf vacations, because of the company, the weather and all of the amenities at the hotel and the golf courses. I highly recommend a Golf Vacation to Palm Springs during High Season, because it is very hot in Low Season.
